“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for giving me the opportunity to complete placement at TOP. You have created an incredible service and community which achieves amazing client outcomes. It truly is a special place. Caroline and Dave have been amazing leaders and have supported me so much throughout my time at TOP. I feel so blessed to have been in their groups”. “I’m sharing with you how much I appreciated and enjoyed working with Caroline and Dave during my work placement and a bit about what I observed.
Caroline has such a calm energy and ease that is so welcoming. She was an inspiring mentor and guide throughout the process with a wealth of knowledge and resources and I felt valued as part of the team. It always seemed effortless for Caroline to create a safe space for each member of the program, displaying compassionate inquiry, non-judgement and positivity throughout, as well as providing a container for participants to explore feelings and ideas. She was generous with her time and often stayed late if needed to provide added support for a client or student.
Dave simply brightens up any room, even a ZOOM room!. He always introduced and included me as a co-leader and gave me opportunities to contribute which I truly appreciated. Dave has an amazing way of holding space using humour while validating people’s feelings and experiences. He’s relatable and relaxed yet completely professional and people easily open up to him. This taught me so much about the true importance of the relationship between the counsellor and the client as well as the motivation and encouragement that can result through lived experience and self-disclosure so that participants can ultimately keep moving forward in their recovery”. PF, Bachelor of Counselling student. October 2025
